A good ground cover helps keep a landscape and garden weed free and the soil filter fabric is the premier product for demanding weed control applications. The filter fabric is made of a professional-grade nonwoven geotextile that is able to let water pass through while filtering out soil, dirt, and other particulates.

This filter fabric is placed on the ground, under hardscapes, pathways, in planting beds, or as part of a French drain system. The goal in each of these applications is to provide a separation layer between the much, dirt, or aggregates and the soil below.
This fabric is very popular because it can be easily installed in the landscape and cut with a box knife or scissors. Installation is typically very easy and the geotextile can last decades.

Do These Fabrics Drain Water?

Most drainage fabrics on the market claim to be permeable with a high water flow rate. Specification sheets show flow rate but it can be difficult to translate the testing numbers into a real world example.
