We also provide fabrics much thicker than what is listed below however a thicker fabric can slow down water flow. The 4 oz and 6 oz listed below are the most popular fabrics with our customers when building french drains.
Note: all 6 oz and 4 oz non-woven fabrics found on this page are suitable for use in French Drains.
PRO TIP:
Be sure to use a true professional-grade fabric for your french drain. With french drains, much of the cost of the project is in the labor required to dig the trench, haul the rock, wrap the pipe and backfill the excavation. Many economy-grade fabrics available at big box stores or large online retailers are economy-grade (reflected by the often very low price) and will decompose much faster than a true, professional-grade needle-punched non-woven fabric. Once the fabric fails, the drain follows requiring a complete re-installation.
4 oz Non-Woven French Drain Fabric
Providing the highest flow rates while keeping dirt and debris out, the 4 oz french drain fabric is perfect for installations where the highest water flow possible is desired.
6 oz Non-Woven French Drain Fabric
When the project calls for the longest lasting drainage fabric, the 6 oz is an excellent choice. With lower flow rates than the 4 oz the robustness of the heavier weight makes this fabric a solid choice for demanding projects where both material durability and longevity is required.
