The garden filter fabric is the favorite tool of gardeners and landscapers as it enables good filtration and drainage in the yard but can also be used as a weed block as well.
This fabric is rolled out and placed in a trench to assist French drains by keeping dirt and soil from getting into the drain field and clogging the drain. The polypropylene fibers are permeable and let water pass through but filter out most unwanted particulates.

Another popular application for garden fabric is a weed block. When placed in garden areas, under paths, and in flower beds, the fabric will help combat the spread of weeds by preventing the weed seeds from properly germinating.

There are multiple weights and roll sizes available to accommodate your garden needs.

Many roll sizes and weights are available to help match your project.

Do These Fabrics Drain Water?

Most drainage fabrics on the market claim to be permeable with a high water flow rate. Specification sheets show flow rate but it can be difficult to translate the testing numbers into a real world example.

Geotextile Fabric for Gardens - An Overview

First off, you need the right materials to cultivate a thriving, healthy garden that will last a long time. Non-woven geotextile, known as Garden Felt, is an excellent product for garden felt gardening. Garden felt is designed to separate layers between the soil and rock. You will have excellent stability while water is allowed to pass through and nourish the plants.

In this article, we will go over the benefits, the best applications, how it should be installed, and why it's a chosen product for many gardeners and landscapers.

About Non-Woven Geotextile Fabric

Geotextile fabric is a synthetic material made from polypropylene or polyester fibers that are bonded together mechanically, chemically, or using thermal processes. While the woven fabric is formed in a grid-like structure, non-woven forms a felt texture for excellent filtration and drainage.

What Garden Felt Offers Gardeners

° Great Absorbency – This material will allow water to pass through while filtering out dirt and other contaminants.
° Long-lasting Properties – This material resists tearing and puncturing which is important for demanding projects.
° Resists UV Radiation – The material can withstand long periods of exposure to the sun without deteriorating.
° Adaptable – This fabric works very well in difficult landscapes.

The Benefits For Gardens And Landscapes

Excellent Stabilization: Because this material separates layers such as rock and gravel, it prevents materials from mixing together to maintain the quality of the soil while providing a solid foundation for many landscaping projects.

Improved Drainage: One of the most outstanding features of choosing Garden Felt is its absorbency. The material will prevent waterlogging that can harm roots. Allowing water to flow through freely will promote healthy soil. Healthy soil is critical for the development of plants while stopping root rot and other issues caused by water pooling.

Controls Erosion: If you live in an area that experiences a lot of erosion, keeping soil in place can be a challenge. Garden Felt is an excellent choice for slopes, embankments, and other areas affected by erosion.

Controlling Weeds: Weeds have always been a problem for gardeners and landscapers. Garden Felt has the answer for keeping weeds down without relying on chemicals.

Save On Costs:
Garden Felt cuts back on the need for maintenance and replacing materials. In the long run, gardeners and landscapers will save on costs and labor.

Applications

For Pathways And Driveways: As Garden Felt prevents soil and gravel from mixing it's a great choice for under pathways and driveways. You will have a smooth, stable surface that resists shifting and settling.

For Raised Garden Beds:
If you have raised garden beds, using garden felt will stop soil from washing away and prevent the need for constantly replacing the soil.

Retaining Walls: Retaining walls are structures all unto themselves. They need good drainage and keep soil particles in place. Garden felt will provide both needs by offering stability and long life of these structures.

For Embankments And Slopes: Garden felt is known for erosion control by stabilizing the soil and stopping it from being washed away by rain. This is especially important for projects involving uneven soil and terrains.

Ornamental Rock Gardens: These gardens need rock and soil layers separated and garden felts will make that happen. Garden felt will keep rocks from sinking into the soil and keep your ornamental garden in beautiful condition while functioning properly.

Preventing Erosion On The Slope: An owner of a sloped area had many challenges with soil erosion on the slope. They chose Garden Felt to help stabilize the soil and stop further erosion. It created a sustainable and attractive landscape.

Maintenance

Garden Felt will cut back on the time needed for maintenance. With simple upkeep, you will have great results.

Routine Inspections: Check for irregular issues like tears, exposed edges, or damage to the fabric.

Weed Control: Even though Garden Felt keeps weeds down, some will pop up. Manually remove them and, if needed, use an environmentally friendly herbicide treatment.
