The 16 oz non-woven geotextile fabric is a heavy-duty fabric that will act as a separation layer between rock and soil while still allowing water to pass through. These needle-punched non-woven fabrics are non-biodegradable, tear resistant and are permeable with varying water flow rates. Common applications include drainage systems, as a separation layer under rip-rap or in soil erosion prevention projects. Available in thicknesses ranging from 4 oz - 16 oz.

16 oz Non-Woven Geotextile Fabric

The 16 oz non-woven textile is considered one of the heaviest weight geotextiles on the market and has a grab tensile strength of 380 lbs which exceeds that of most woven fabrics

This grade of non-woven geotextile is known for its strength and resistance to punctures. The fabric is resistant to UV exposure, rot, and other ground elements.

The fabric is created by using a needle-punch process that increases its flexibility. Aa a non-woven geotextile, the 16 oz can handle some of the toughest erosion control applications on the market and is often installed on demanding ground reinforcement projects.

About Non-Woven Geotextile Fabrics

Although in general non-woven geotextile fabrics provide a reduced tensile strength than woven geotextile, many non-wovens are high strength, long-lasting, and are an excellent material for drainage applications. The fabric feels like felt which is made by thermally bonding polypropylene or a mixture of polypropylene and polyester fabrics and finishing up using needle punching, calendaring, and various other methods.

This geotextile fabric is much easier to cut, offers a high water permeability rate, and does not lose its strength over time when installed below ground. Popular applications for non-woven fabrics use for use under driveways, roads, and stormwater drainage systems where long-term ground stabilization and filtration is required.
