Our underground downspout drain liner is a heavy-duty waterproof liner which can be used to line a downspout drain channel to prevent water intrusion into the surrounding area. This can be particularly useful in drainage channels adjacent to sidewalks or home foundations where water intrusion could cause significant damage. The liner is composed of HDPE plastic and is both puncture and tear resistant. The liner is available in various thicknesses ranging from 30 mil to 100 mil and in roll widths from 10” to 60”. The liner is able to bend to conform to various trench widths. Our HDPE is UV resistant and provides a projected 100 year lifespan when buried underground. Our HDPE rolls are manufactured in the USA.

Material Thickness:
30 mil = 1/32”
40 mil = 3/64”
60 mil = 1/16”
80 mil = 5/64”
100 mil = 3/32”

Please Note: The widest rolls that we offer in HDPE are 60” (5ft).

HDPE Plastic - Many Uses for a Wide Range of Applications

We have entered a new age where the foods we eat are safer, to the chemicals used to wash our clothes and are now protected by containers made from HDPE Plastic. Although the list is quite extensive as more and more manufacturers are turning to HDPE plastic to make their products, it's well worth your time to become familiar with the future of plastic. In this article, we have covered many uses for HDPE plastic but even this list will become outdated as its many uses continue to keep on growing.

HDPE or High-Density Polyethylene is a flexible, long-lasting, recyclable material used for everything from piping systems to storing food. This is a very popular plastic for manufacturing many products used by residential and commercial customers alike. HDPE is chemical resistant, will not leak contaminants into food products, is recyclable, and lasts a very long time!

Although HDPE is used in many everyday products, most people haven't a clue why it's so popular. In this article, we will go over the many products made using HDPE plastic that you are probably using right now and don't even know it.

Where You Will Find HDPE Products:

In The Bathroom

Many containers for beauty and cosmetic products and soap dispensers are made from HDPE. Recent surveys have shown that 17% of consumers never check the expiration dates on cosmetics while another 17% only see the expiration date after it's expired. Manufacturers of products can give consumers a better experience by using packaging material that actually protects the contents it's called HDPE plastic.

For products with solvents like surfactants, HDPE will resist the chemicals and protect the container from leaking or corroding. Surfactants are known as surface-active agents found in detergents. Surfactants are also used to help dyes evenly penetrate fabrics. Plastic containers made from HDPE plastic will last longer and are less likely to break apart or expire. Containers made from HDPE will protect the contents from UV rays that pass through the material. UV rays will degrade a product and decrease its shelf-life. HDPE will protect products from these rays as well as corrosion caused by chemicals and outside contaminants. It's an excellent polymer for cosmetics. HDPE has proven to be the best material due to its tenacity, long shelf-life, and physical obstruction capabilities.

Self Care

HDPE is starting to surface for products in the self-care industry. Tubes for toothpaste have always been produced with a layer of aluminum between the laminated layers of plastic. Colgate is getting ready to launch a recyclable HDPE toothpaste tube by 2025. Using different grades of HDPE, the strict properties of HDPE plastic will not affect these tubes.

Beauty Products

As HDPE is now available in flexible and rigid varieties, everyday products like beauty supplies including shampoos, conditioners, and lotions will be protected from outside contaminants, leaks, and will have a longer shelf-life.

Over-The-Counter Medications

Medicine bottles are now in HDPE containers for some of the same reasons as cosmetics.

Laundry Products

Chemicals play a major part in keeping our lives hygienic. We use chemical compounds on a daily basis so it's important they are stored in durable containers that will prevent leaks, spills, or breaking apart while withstanding exposure to chemicals inside the containers, and will not corrode. During an interview with PlasticsToday, American Institute Director of Sustainability, Melissa Grande said (paraphrasing) product packaging is essential for the transportation and storage of products. Packages are needed to protect the contents inside the packaging for a long period of time and are safe for the user. Plastic has been a preferred material due to its ability to withstand degradation from the chemicals within.

Because HDPE is known for its chemical resistance from a wide range of chemicals without corroding, it's the perfect choice for household cleaning formulas such as laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softeners, and other cleaning products. There are other products that succumb to infiltration and damage caused by harsh chemicals.

Foods For The Freezer And Refrigerator

HDPE is the preferred material for dairy containers such as milk jugs. Should the container hit another item, HDPE is impact-resistant. Because these containers are inexpensive to produce, it's the first choice for products traveling from the manufacturer to the store and to your home unharmed. Containers for juices have the same reasons as milk jugs. Easy transportation - no damage.

Multi-Layer Polyethylene Film

This film can be found in most people's refrigerators as an HDPE barrier layer to protect cheese from outside moisture. Multi-layer plastic film comes in an array of items found in your freezer like frozen peas with an HDPE layer in the package.

There are different kinds of plastic like HDPE used for frozen foods including HDPE, LDPE, and Polypropylene. Packaging includes shrink wraps, rigid and flexible packaging, and even a single-use disposal package. Plastic is the popular choice due to its lightweight and is able to withstand a range of temperatures to protect the food from freezing due to its incredible insulation properties.

Items In The Garage

Because HDPE is excellent for resisting chemicals, the containers for car maintenance including antifreeze, gasoline, and coolants should have HDPE plastic!

HDPE Bottles

These bottles are safe to use and can withstand temperatures up to 248° F for short periods of time or 230° F for a longer duration. Because temperatures can alter in garages, HDPE containers are safer.

Athletic Gear

For the athlete in your family, HDPE is present in some forms of protective equipment. Shoulder pads can be made of a soft polyethylene and a hard polyethylene shell. The shell is usually made from HDPE because there is no branching so it will be more dense and strong enough to absorb impact. Some equipment for water sports uses an element of HDPE.

Outdoor Decorations

Because HDPE resists moisture, it can handle a large range of temperatures and offers higher tensile strength. Therefore, furniture and other items designed for outdoor use in yards, on patios, or attached to your home will benefit from HDPE protection. Because polyethylene is chemical resistant, it will be very easy to clean items with common products, especially in HDPE containers. Your products will remain safe between uses without leading to corrosion of delicate details. Because HDPE is recyclable, many manufacturers use recycled HDPE from milk jugs and detergent bottles to produce outdoor furniture.

An added plus for homeowners, outdoor furniture or decorations made from HDPE are practically maintenance-free because they are so sturdy even though being out in all kinds of elements. If you have decided enough is enough when it comes to lawn care and want to replace your grass with an artificial variety now's the time, Your newfound grass is probably HDPE! It can withstand high temperatures and foot traffic. It's long-lasting, durable, cost-effective, and comes in a large variety of choices.

When it comes to hygiene and the product's lifespan, HDPE's popularity will continue to increase as even more products are being made from this material. Simply look for the triangle made from arrows on the package with a number in the center of the triangle. That means HDPE. You might be quite surprised how many new products as well as old products are now using HDPE!

In Conclusion

As time moves on, it's amazing how many new technologies, and items have entered our lives without giving them a second thought. From ice-free freezers to today's advanced computers along with an amazing plastic that is being used for so many applications to make our lives a simpler place to live.

HDPE is the silent hero that has given us an incredible product that resists everything from airborne elements, contaminants from the ground and water, or harmful chemicals. Adding to it, it;'s not only recyclable so it won't end up in a landfill. HDPE Plastic will last a very long time and can be made into other products for future use.
